Cosmos Telecom has been the pioneer in setting up numerous projects in Bangladesh. In 1989 Cosmos Telecom with the help of Nokia accomplished the largest Radio Microwave Communications project funded by Finnida. This communication system is still the prime source of communication in the domestic circuit.
Cosmos Telecom also represents Thales, formerly known as Thomson-CSF. In 1986, Cosmos and Thomson-CSF installed the radar and monitoring system of the Zia International Airport. We have completed the primary-Secondary Radar including up- gradation of the full ATC at the Zia International airport for Zia.
Thales has regularly been chosen as the "preferred supplier" by the defense ministry.
Cosmos Telecom has also been associated with Sofrecom, the Consulting arm of France Telecom, in preparing a study-report on the topic of "Choosing the right technology" for the then Bangladesh Telegraph & Telephone Board (BTTB).
A similar report was prepared for GrameenPhone, the largest mobile operator of the country with the help of Telemate.
Cosmos Telecom is one of the few license holders for providing the "pre-paid calling card" services to and from Bangladesh.
At the home front, Cosmos Telecom supervised the development of the state of the art news management and delivery software for United News Of Bangladesh (UNB), the largest aggregator of news and information in Bangladesh (owned by Cosmos Group). Providing "news content" to the cellular operators for their value added services is also been possible by the R&D by Cosmos Telecom.
